| I wasnt there but based off what is said "young excited kids, juvenile inside dog, etc.", I would chalk it up to classic protectionism behavior on the dog.
1. We are talking about an juvenile inside dog that grew up with the kids. So you were completely inside that dogs territory and around its children. Ever stop to think that the dog didn't quite know how to process the kid's excitement as friendly contact and is not the same as "unprovoked aggression"
2. your reaction about kicking the dogs ass and wanting to kill it says a lot. So, with that being said I would advise that you just stay away from their property or grow a pair.
