Subject: Ag Leader Rightspot Hub Problems and Solutions

North Central Iowa
I've been installing a rightspot system on my pull sprayer (a Bestway FieldPro III) and finally got everything installed and ready to fire up for the first time. I already had the L2 modules running the sprayer the last couple of years, so just adding the Rightspot system (hub, VCMs, and individual nozzle valves). Had 2 different problems:

1. The Rightspot wouldn't power up. Ended up being the pin for the RightSpot Hub Sync Cable (purple wire in the brown connector at the L2 Liquid Control Module) had pushed back and wasn't making contact. Looks like every few seconds (5-10) a short signal is sent out on this wire to the rightspot hub to tell it power up/stay powered up.

2. Lot of power and CAN issues with the Rightspot Hub. This was the more frustrating one. For those with Ag Leader systems, probably aware that after you update the main monitor and then later attach different modules, it often wants to update the modules. So after I figured out problem #1 and the rightspot hub powered up, it brought up that the hub needed to be updated (1.3.5 I think). So I let it update and went on. Things got weird, and several complete reboots didn't make a difference. At first, it had recognized the VCMs and valves connected, but somewhere after a reboot it didn't find the VCMs. CAN indication lights would rotate through from green to amber to red every 10 seconds or so on the Hub and VCMs. Power lights would go on and off on the hub and VCMs. On the Hub, the 2 small green LEDs above the double high power plug didn't lite up (confirmed had proper 12 volts and ground on both sets of cables). In the Hub diagnostics it would bounce between 24 and 0 volts on the left and right side every few seconds. After quite a bit of time checking voltages throughout the systems (high power and CAN) without finding anything of use, I happened to notice in the diagnostics on the hub that it didn't recognize the firmware version on the hub. It was talking to it, the CAN was fine, but it showed the firmware version as "0.0". So I thought maybe the Hub was bricked by the firmware update or just had a bad Hub. One last stab, reran the firmware update manually for the Hub from the Advanced tab, and immediately everything started working fine. Grrr. Glad it solved the problem, but spent a couple hours on it.
