I went to rechargeable batteries in anything that will work in them. Even the TV remote has AAA rechargeables.
Biggest advantage is that they don't leak.
Second advantage is you can recharge them.

If you go that way, be sure to get a charger that charges each battery individually, some of the cheaper ones charge batteries 2 at a time in pairs. Not recommended, if one battery is 'dead' it can overcharge the other one, and can be a fire hazard.
