Vaseline does help!, but , as much as possible try to keep it from touching the end of the wrapper. I think I had a battery fail because I likkered the Vaseline on too heavy & it degraded the battery wrapper( or case as it may be): NOT certain, but what I think. What Vaseline does to make flashlights shine brighter still amazes me.
