Maybe the dog just thought he was protecting his kids.
I got bitten once when I tried to pet a farmer's dog that was taught to stay with the owner pickup, all day long. I also once had my dog quickly step between me and some attacking dogs while we were minding our own business on a nice walk.
Dog bite?
