E ND | Can you cut back the slope closer to the house than where the wall currently sits or do you want to have a flat yard out to that point then slope it down? If you could pull the black dirt off the top and back a few feet, pull the wall out and grade that off you'd have a better idea how much fill you need. I'd just use whatever is native and handy but for any slope work you need something that will hold together (clay?) and build the slope only as steep as that kind of soil will allow.
And agree on the 4-6" of topsoil being ideal for grass. | |
