Mid MO | The church I attend owns two church buildings. This is a result of a merger that took place back in the 60's (I think???) Where we hold services is pre civil war and is in good repair. It is a two story building with the sanctuary upstairs. The kitchen and fellowship hall are in a walk out basement type arrangement. It is light and airy and beautiful but not practical to host funerals because of the stairs. We have a chair lift to help folks up the stairs who need it.
Our second church building is smaller and has 4 steps to get into the sanctuary. It is 1880's vintage, amazing stained windows, good heat, and air, piano, no organ. The basement is finished with Sunday school rooms and we will use it for Bible school. It has a single bathroom in the basement.
Other than very occasional funerals and even rarer weddings, the small church is used once per year for VBS, and that's it. We don't want to sell the building, but we are paying utilities and maintenance. We have a regular attendance of 30 or so. VBS is 100 kids. Town doesn't need another museum. We are not looking to make money from it necessarily but we should be using it more than we are just to keep it up and chase off the spiders!
Does anyone have any ideas how we can put this building to good use? I'm not sure many folks outside our church know much about the building other than driving past it
