Subject: Migraines

Western Oregon
Anyone here have Complex migraine with aura. Last Friday afternoon. So bad I got motion sick, went to ER because I had stroke like complications. I could talk but realized the words were all mixed up, sounded like jibberish, even to me. Just could not get the right words out, sounded right in my pre-mind but all wrong when they spilled out. Son drove me to little town ER, did Ct scan looked good. Messed around until closing time, then wanted to send me to Salem for MRI. I didn't want to go just wait until Monday, had to wait until 11 pm for a room to open up in Salem, Never saw the room, waited to 3 am for first try, 7:30 for second try. We knew it would be tough. I didn't know I was in there, first time I told them they were not doing it right, meds were not working. I have terrible claustrophobia, woke up and set it off, I had to get out. Second try, I was not cooperative but I didn't know it at all. I got very sick on the way over. I get motion sickness in the passenger seat, let alone wagon wagging the tail on my back, weaving like a drunk. In and out all night, very sick and dehydrated. I always get very sick after surgery unless they do the patch strong enough for a horse. They found out, had to clean the machine, said they were done trying. Wednesday and I still am not back. I was cold, no blankets to throwing up and hot. Sitting or laying alone in the hallway. Didn't get a room until back from second MRI attempt. Son and Wife came to pick me up at 9:30 and I was asleep, sitting up with my feet on the floor. Wife feels bad that she didn't go to Salem but she was so tired and she told the Ambulance attendant all about my problems, he was the one that said to wait until a room was available before heading out for Salem. They didn't find anything so far, follow-up at DR friday morning. Been on Medicare 5 years, went for first check then haven't been back, always very healthy as far as no meds, so no med checks. Clinic changed to Valley Health, part of Salem Hospital. They won't take me as a "new" Medicare patient, it has been more than 3 years. Called the clinic in another small town that is affiliated with same group, she said I would have to be on a new patient list but she would make a follow-up appointment with my "former" doctor for a 1 time visit, just about this incident.

This all started with cataract surgery and new lens implants from the crystal type cataracts. Never been able to wear corrective lens for reading since. Surgeon now says my eyes never worked together from birth but my brain adjusted. Doing the same thing now, been 10 years. Had my first bad migraine a year ago, went to eye doctor, not surgeon. He made the adjustment for left "reading" eye but will not work together with right eye, that is for distance, that is perfect. Knew from the first time I put them on they would never work. Just for reading. No way I can wear them full time. If, when I look up from reading, I have to close my eyes and remove right away, can not focus on anything with them on. I tried wearing them as much as I could, reading, but just got to where any time reading, it was too much strain on left eye. Wear no glasses except cheaters for small print now, put on, read and right off. No cell phone, I can adjust zoom on Chromebook but 10 minutes with or without cheaters is giving me migraines. I have an eye appointment tomorrow with my eye doctor, not the cataract surgeon he has retired....James
