Denmark | When I worked in California early 1960´ies a big operator, Heidrick Farms Inc. used cubers. One og the owners, Joe Heidrick, invented, patented and built 4 pull type units. The alfalfa hay had to be dry so they ran 12-14 hours starting about 10 AM. A little water was sprinkled on to make the cubes stick together.
I was told the cubes were shipped to Hawaii and Japan.
Heidricks sold their patents to another manufacturer, Cal Cube, who later sold their patents to John Deere.
Interesting that a JD cuber found its way here to Denmark. I saw it at a veteran machinery meet around 2010.
Pictures. The pull types were powered by Screamin Jimmies. SP Cal Cube. The cubes produced by Heidricks machines, my cigarette lighter among the to indicate the size.
