You have multiple calculations on the same line.

Proper math rules are to calculate things in brackets or parenthesis first. Then calculate multiplication or division second. Then calculate addition or subtraction last.

There are no brackets to clarify your equation.

So you -should- do the multiplication first. 17*25

Then you should do the addition second. 17+425

This gives you the proper mathematical answer every time.

However, many simple apps or on line calculators and now many people no longer follow math rules, and just do the calculations from left to right.

So they do 17+17 first, and then multiply the answer by 25.

This the wrong way to do good math, but it is becoming accepted - if you are careful to enter the numbers in the order neede….

If you meant to do 17+17 first, you should be entering the equation like this:

(17+17)*25

Now we follow the rules and do the bracketed operation first, and then do the multiplication second.

When you read you should read from left to right in English. So we all can understand each other.

When you calculate you should do brackets first, multiplication or division second, and addition or subtraction second in math. So we all can do the same math.

To get rid of these types of errors on any calculator app, don’t enter 3 or 4 or 9 operations in a row. Do your first 2 numbers with an equals sign, take that result and do your next calculation with an equals sign, and so on.

Stringing calculations together you run into these issues.
