I-86 used to be called the Southern Tier Expressway. Back in the 1990s I often used that route to get from Erie, PA to Boston. I-86 to Binghamton, then I-88 to Albany, then I-90 into Boston. Back then it was a nice ride if you weren't loaded too heavy. It's especially nice on a beautiful fall day when the leaves are full of color.
