I am in the process of setting up a Talc applicator on our seed tender. My uncle sells seed and had a Gandy inoculator box laying in his shed that he has given us to use. Currently the Gandy is chain driven and has a 120v Dayton motor on it spec.d at: 12 RPM, 1/20 HP, 60 htz, etc. I would like to put a 12v DC motor on it with the same specs or similar. Anything between 6 RPM and 20 RPM should work without any trouble whatsoever and if it does give me a little problem I could always use a different sprocket to put the speed back to the right ratio. I have looked at Grainger and it seems that these motors are really high priced. Over $200, yet similar sized motors that run at 1000 or more RPM are 1/4 the price or less. Why is that? I have checked on eBay and haven't found anything that trips my trigger yet. |
