Subject: RE: Transitioning Away from Broadcasting Fertilizer

I don't know about your beets, but a 2x2 system on a planter is hard to beat. A few years ago we had a bearing go out on a John Deere fertilizer opener, we were close to finishing up, so we took the opener off and ran the fertilizer hose out the back and ziptied it in place. The same rate, just dribbled on top. Those rows stayed yellow till the corn was so high we lost sight of them. The neighbors even joked that we had a fertilizer tube plugged up, we said no it was a test plot where we dribbled it over the row !
