I wouldn’t complain at all if they would also tax the cd, Ira,401k,etc. The farmland is my retirement account. I have no problem they taxing my house I live in along with the acre or so underneath it. Have no idea what some of you guys pay for property tax but come to nebr and buy some land and find out. Plus they taxing the depreciation value of our equipment. Approximately 2 yrs ago local school thought it needed to build. So emailed superintendent some questions about it. One question he asked me back was how much I netted per acre. So I went to university website and got report. My memory was in $40-50 range. Average year. Figured he couldn’t argue with university. His reply was. I thought you farmers made way more then that per acre. Like $450/ acre. I almost came unclued. The extra cost to build would have been in the $12-15 range / acre for next 20 years for me. The bond got defeated.
Ummm, Papa, sorry to burst your bubble, but I guarantee you the CD’s and retirement plans are taxed.
