WCIL | I think it depends on your soil. We have a few fields that stand water for a day or so multiple times a year, sometimes multiple times a week in a wet period. Takes some time to pump it off. In the better soils there, we have not noticed a nitrogen deficiency visibly. Yield may be a bit down, but the corn had some bad days being waterlogged. We do not add more N on these fields. In our wetter soil types, we have run short on N around tassel in a wet year and sometimes sidedress (but it is usually planned anyway). Almost all of ours is fall applied with N serve. You have a lot on already, so you may be ok depending on how leachable the soil is. I certainly wouldn't think you lost it all on one event (never have here). If it were here, we would not put another 150# --instead maybe 50# if we were concerned about loss. Obviously, this is what our experience in the bottoms has been, your situation may be different. Whatever you do, it will be wrong. Lol. Maybe do some strips or areas differently so you will have a better handle for next time. Good luck. | |
