Nebraska aka the boondocks
You make good points. As a Starbucks person I can say one thing, yum yum. If I go there, it is my meal for lunch or breakfast. If I only get a latte , then I still eat a meal. In regard to this whole conversation, I have said many times, rural people and many others have lost site of how much money the professional class is making. Let’s take mahogany prime in Omaha, or as my brother calls it, “the hog!” People regularly eat there every week. $70 plus for a bone in prime ribeye, which is fantastic. Beyond that there is the wine. People who are dropping $50 a day on wine don’t care about the price of beef. $36 an ounce for a5 waygu at 801 .
Beef should be expensive. An incredible amount of resources go into putting it on the table. Ranchers are doing a better and better job all the time of breeding taste and marbling, imo. Nobody says lobster is too expensive. Beyond all this, the fires in Nebraska and burnt up pasture and alfalfa will only drive prices higher.
