The simple answer is yes. High prices curb demand and that is exactly what is happening in the beef market. The retailors once the price starts headed the other way will however keep the consumer price pegged at a new higher plateau allowing them to keep more of the consumers dollar and not allowing the consumer to enjoy the lower price point that they are paying.
