May have missed it, but no mention of what corn head you're following.

I struggle with my 1620 CIH throwing too much trash into 2 rows. I also run over 2 out of every 4 rows with stalk stompers- 4-30 head.

I had good results planting behind a chopping head with a great spread pattern. There was thick manure on that field as well.

I used to envy the guys with the old Deere corn heads that left the stalks standing; not so many of them left, I thought they made a perfect no-till seedbed.
