| Pretty much 100% of my planting is no-till into corn stalks.
I have a stalk smasher that kicks up a lot of crap. The tractor is super steer and that means the front tires are further forward from the radiator than a normal tractor and that kicks stuff up too. Then I think the screen size is not great so it serves as more of a vacuum cleaner than it should. Then there is not much room between the radiator and the engine so it’s tough to get the reversing fan from being buried too deep into the radiator shroud.
Finally, NW Kansas is one of the latest places in the USA to get planted. If I could plant everything on one day I would intentionally choose June 3rd. So it’s not uncommon for us to be planting in 100° F temps.
All of this stuff combines to make kind of a perfect storm of overheating environment for the tractor. Other than the overheating and the SuperSteer (that I don’t need because I don’t do things that require me to turn really sharp) I really like the tractor. It’s not too heavy. It’s powerful enough for my needs. It has a lot of hydraulic capacity. It’s low cost. It’s non-emissions. It’s a great little tractor. Kinda think if I did some odd things to it, it could be a good deal for quite a few more years as a secondary planter tractor.
