I use Milwaukee at work, my go to tool, is the M12 Fuel, 3/8" extended reach ratchet. It's not an impact ratchet, once you get the bolt loose, then the power ratchet takes over. As far as using them at school, let him twist a few bolts off on his dime, he will be much more careful. That's my opinion, remember what you paid for it. :)
