Subject: RE: Solar power for home

Solar here that provides power for 2 homes and farm. Panels were over sized 20% when installed. We're on net metering so bill is usually just the $12 monthly meter fee. No distribution charges. Once a year coop settles up for excess power I produce and paid $0.09 per kwh which is about half of their residential rate. Must be connected to grid or have battery back up if you want power 24/7. My solar installer said batteries were the next big thing but cost and technology was not there yet. So long as we're on net metering with a reliable supplier batteries are not needed.
