Fairbury, NE (Southeast) | Hardly worse than the 80's since people back then actually lived on little or nothing. In the 80's those without hogs and high variable interest on land were in deep trouble with no pathway out, largely through little fault of their own. The current stage is so much different. Interest is still historically low, but those chasing land via big rents driving 500k tractors and 90k pickups are finding there is no margin even with significant government handouts. Belt tightening or restructuring will be the norm. | |
