You state it didn't get fertilizer last fall. Have you had any soil testing done? If levels are high enough you may only need N for corn. Since the field hasn't seen beans in such a long time the bean seed will definitely need inoculation. Spreading beans with a cart and working them in can be done but you would be better off with a planter. The spreader fans can crack seed and emergence will be erratic. What is the corn yield history?
