| Dry fall and dry bean moistures at harvest means there is a big difference in quality between seed growers in final QA. The little things like running augers full, slow, and not unloading on the go all make a difference when bean moisture falls below 10%. I will also say there is a difference between combine rotor and concave settings. I did a study a few years back- and combine unload auger speed influenced germination by several points. There was a lot of mechanical damage this year that caused poor quality as an industry- but there is also some really good quality out there if you shop around for real seedsmen that care about their quality. | |
