SW Iowa | In the past I've occasionally had a variety here or there that arrived tagged 85% but that would be the exception and most were 90. This year out of 6 varieties from 3 different brands I have exactly 1 that is tagged 90 and everything else is 85. Are others seeing similar? These are 2.8-3.8 maturity range enlist, both corteva and bayer/MS genetics.
Would really like to be cutting pop on some of my better ground, however figure if stuff is getting tagged 85 there's a very real possibility germ is 90 or less. So probably going to be cautious about pop seeing and end up needing to buy more seed, when I should have had enough bought and paid for to have extra.
I haven't explicitly asked, but so far nobody has offered 5% more seed or money back to make up for the universally low germ. Any success stories on that front?
I'm skeptical I would be able to contract 10k bushels of grain to the elevator, deliver 9500, and get paid on the full 10k.
Am I overthinking this or is it reasonable to expect better?
