I’m sorry but this makes no sense. Your son couldn’t make it paying you half the going rate in rent? If that’s right then yes you definitely should be considering getting out. Admittedly I don’t know what that number is in Minnesota but if I could have ground like that here I’d be living high on the hog. I mean Christ we could sell $4.90 cash corn today and $12.30 cash beans, not to mention plenish beans at $13.00 or nongmo at $14.75. If you can’t survive on that then your cost structure is out of whack, not the industry. We need a reality adjustment in agriculture. Do you have to have newish equipment with big payments and fancy tech? I don’t know. I know we grow some very good crops with a 21 year old corn planter and 23 year old bean planter. Have never made a payment on either of them. Trim some fat, that’s the reality.
