Why are they so scared? Have they been burned before by the coop or something? Proper clean out and there's zero issues with switching herbicides. Or even better would be to run something like zidua that's friendly to both corn and beans.
Kudos to you for thinking outside the box. That said, it might be simpler just to grow corn this year. Might make some difference if you have a buddy that would be willing to plant and harvest the beans.
Is there any market for specialty crops in your area? Just thinking 'out loud' here.
