My typical dates for cotton are 4/24 thru 5/8. In 2011 I double crop wheat and cotton on 100 acres. Cotton was planted 5/23. For that year the the normal planted yielded about 2.9 bales per acre and the double crop about 2.1. That was a good year with great price.

Photos are of my wheat irrigated versus dryland. Same field, same variety.
