Subject: RE: Worst farm economy since the 80s

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
The difference today vs the 80’s is we could still live pretty cheap in the 80’s. Today we have so many more monthly expenses such as cell phones, internet, trash pickup, health insurance is much higher. Some may say you could live without but a lot of it you need to have.
Land got cheap in the 80’s but most everyone couldn’t afford to buy it anyway. Interest was high. That probably hurt more than anything.
It was just a different time. If you had cash, deals could be made on equipment. And at that time you could fix most repairs yourself. Don’t necessarily have that option anymore.
