Malta, Illinois | I'm having a bit of a hard time believing that but I guess when you look at some of the stuff that goes on it could be. High rents, high land purchases, and. lots of new paint over the last ten years or more could finally have some guys on the ropes. That would translate into slow times at the implement dealer. I still don't think we are anywhere near the 80's farm economy. What were we all paying for interest in the 1980's? I remember and it was painful. $4000 an acre land bought in the late 70's turned into $2000 land pretty quickly. We don't have either of those scenarios yet but I would hate to bet it could not happen. Right now I think the national economy is more at risk than the farm economy. Traditionally, when the national economy is bad agriculture does okay. Will that be the case this time? No clue. | |
