Subject: 're-gearing' a John Deere 6000 sprayer

Kendall County, IL
Talk me out of it. For those who aren't familiar with these machines, the rear wheels use a drop box with chains and sprockets. I'm considering changing the lower 44 tooth sprocket to something with less teeth to achieve a higher transport speed without going to taller tires. By higher speed, I'm thinking around 20 mph 4th gear wide open which is up from the current 13 mph stock. This would help make the other gears more useable too. My main concern besides safety is the possibility of losing gear oil from top drop box seals at 'higher' speeds.
