Operating costs will only come down because the costs will be spread out over more acres. The purchase cost will never come down, ever. Significantly at least


Since the post started out with a comparison to the 80’s. I’ll throw this out there. We bought a 3588 IH 2+2 in 82 or 83 for low/mid $40k. (It’s almost 45 years ago so memory isn’t spot on. lol) but, and this is after IH was being liquidated by Case, in 85 or 86 we bought a 6588 2+2 for over $10k less. So a 25% reduction. Similar story with a Massey 850 that had several very significant price cuts in the mid 80’s. The last one being too good for us to turn down. So, if things get bad enough, they WILL cut prices to keep equipment moving. I’m sure others saw the same during that timeframe.
