Curious about building a hog barn in today's market. Wondering what the current cash flow would look like. I know 10-15 years ago it was something like $750,000 for a 2,400 head barn and they were paying around $41 a pig space. Im sure that is well over a million at this point, but not sure if payments have went up accordingly. Anyone looki into it lately or have any info?

A new 2400 is gonna cost right at 1.1 million without land. I recently remodeled a 2000 head barn that was built in 1998. Original cost was 250K. Remodel cost 325K. Pulled all slats, replaced all capstone and beams and slats as needed. Surprisingly only needed 4 new slats and 6 new beams. I had told the slat pro guy I wanted another 20 years and to do whatever he had too. These were hog slat made slats. Gutted everything and put in all new electric, water lines, wet dry feeders, new gates with speed alleys, new controller, new curtains, new actuated inlets, new roof with rafters glued and renailed, new feed lines and motors. New bull bins. Yardage is 41. Remodel cost 162 space. Payback is 4 years without propane cost. Figuring getting another 20 years out of the barn.
