SW WI | Around 10-15 years ago, stock talk was flooded with “ I would like to build a hog barn” posts. A few up us laid out why we didn’t think it was as lucrative as the guys who were pretty high on them.
Those barns have some age on them and repairs are hitting…or about to hit. Does the stagnant custom rate pay for repairs ? Let alone repairs and a wage to care for the pigs.
You name it….IT has went up…insurance, electricity, LP, minor parts, gating and welding supplies……but custom rate the same.
Also was a sweet spot and a lot of past posts about guys building sites. Running for a few years that paid it off, then selling for over original cost.
I think that dried up as well.
None of this surprises me……
