SE IL | Cost of production will gravitate toward the price of the commodity. As 18 said, if you can’t grow it why should the gov pay you to do so? I think you along with many lack the basic understanding of how subsidies (don’t) work. Once they remain permanent (which is most) all things readjust and your back to square one. Then you have to subside it more and more because the current amount is never enough. Corn and bean are on the hampster wheel. Recent history even has perfect examples of that: college education and now healthcare.
Bottom line is if gov stopped susbsides gradually over time the cost to raise those crops would go down. If done quickly there would be carnage. | |
