Subject: RE: Farmer Cash

Very southern Mn
Crop insurance and farm programs are lobbied for by a lot more people than just farmers. I am guessing anybody that has anything to do with farm inputs are throwing their money at lobbyists also. Farmers less than 2%, probably closer to 1%, why do you think these big bills get passed? Everyone wants a piece of the pie. So 1891, the gov benefits to farmers are going to a much bigger fish. Anything gov related is abit hard to see where it starts and ends. How about government jobs? Does private sector give the retirement benefits a gov job does? Does a government job generally have more security? Was a big pension what kept somebody in the public sector rather than private sector? Farmers somewhat the same. The lines all get blurred. I am not defending any government program, what I am saying that you kind of have to play ball with them or you will be out of business because that is the way ag has went. So to say there were gov benefits over ones farming career I agree. Did the increased money coming in usually match the increased money go out? If no farm programs would things swing both ways more? Do all the gov money just keep everybody at slightly above break even rather than letting supply and demand determine outcome? If government pays everyone to plant every acre wether those acres should or should not be planted would you agree that you have to play by gov rules to survive?
