NEMO | Good and interesting observations. That said, I've used enough long longevity Angus genetics to safely say that they do generally lack growth. I'm not sure you can generalize that Angus naturally marble with a lot of breeders, mainly in the Montana direction, picking for negative MB or not using it for a selection criteria at all. Once again, GAR gets all the bad attention from a certain subset of breeders, but there are plenty of Angus folks with no GAR in the pedigree that do about the same thing. As usual, the middle of the road is the sweet spot. When Prime carcasses will pay out premiums with over a $1000 bonus, at least some feeders will go there. Good discussion | |
