Yah, that's a strange concept for me. A decade or so ago some guys up on the Arkansas Valley where they grow food crops contracted many pivots in our area to grow onions and cucumbers. They had no ditch water up there and needed the irrigated acres. Most of the pivots down here were never even harvested. I'm not sure how that works............but it's evidently standard operating procedure. I reckon a lot of their costs are in harvesting........so they did avoid that part.
