How many acres of carrots is that? 



Not that many if you're using the retail value of the carrots, which wouldn't surprise me in a situation like this. Lots of potatoes were left or should have been because they're oversupplied, a one time deal like that doesn't surprise me. Food crops get grown "in case" they're needed all the time. Could be standard procedure, or it could be a sign of extreme risk taking.
