N.E. MT | Buy a big lazy bull that can whip every other bull hands down. The peace keeper. We’ve found this effective in the feedlot. If there’s a bull that can easily whip the others they will do their business without fighting. If they are too evenly matched they will fight around the clock instead of doing their jobs. We learned this the hard way the first year we bred heifers in the feedlot, 10-12% open now we put a peace keeper in every pen, young bulls won’t fight at all. Old bull breeds a handful every morning then puts on more weight, end of the season the big ones go right to town, bring big money because they are fat as all get out. Last year in a 45 day period on 980 heifers we had 22 open and 7 were free martins identified while aiing. Just a thought.
