Yes there are, but there are fewer than there used to be and the regulations make it less competitive than it used to be. The new chromed shaft is probably cheaper to get made up than the rechroming would be.
Another possibility is sanding and polishing the edge of the chrome smooth, to put off the replacement as long as possible.
