No, the value of the mechanic's special should be higher for someone with that engine sitting around already, or someone who values his time less, or whatever combination of factors adds up to more than your value. I've bought fixer uppers, and passed on way more, even when it was pretty much what I was looking for, because it's usually not worth it.
