Top of Texas | Can you get any of the dead calf’s hide? All you need is a piece from its back end and the tail like in the picture I attached. Glue it on with some eyepatch glue. If you can’t get any hide then O-No-Mo will help. One tip I’ve gotten from NAT and it worked is to keep them separated and let the calf get hungry enough to start bawling, this seems to arouse the motherly instinct in the cow. I tried this last year and on the second day the cow was at the stall door trying to get in with calf. I turned the calf out and she went straight to the cow and started nursing. I did feed the cow some cake to distract her a little but once the calf latched on she didn’t kick her off and it was smooth sailing from there.
