You did great. A lot of folks, IF they had answered the phone, would have talked a bit, and when they got off the phone that would have been that. Probably not enough in most situations. In this case, I think calling the law was the right response, especially since he was obviously not near anyone close to home that could get to him in a hurry. 

I saw this morning that yesterday they located a young man (25 I believe) lying in a field not far from me. Not sure if he was around here for some other reason or if that was just where he decided to stop after driving east from IN. Deleted himself in that field. Sad deal. Never know what someone may be going through.
