Subject: RE: Wheat damage?

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
That’s my plan. May be enough spots that we will have to leave for harvest. Don’t know yet. Terrace channels may produce something. Less than 5% of the field area.
If I can get it appraised by June 1 to terminate then I can insure next falls planted wheat as summer fallow instead of continuous wheat. About a $150/acre advantage in coverage.
I always say if you can’t grow wheat (because of drought) you can’t grow anything else.
And then the second crop would be uninsurable unless you just take 35% of the wheat insurance.
Contracted my first wheat for 2027. HTA. with just a little basis improvement I can net $6.00 or more. I feel like that is a nice place to start knowing I’ll likely have more wheat acres this fall.
