Southern Missouri
Really close neighbor passed 15 months ago , married and left a widow, worked hard , made good moves his whole life in agriculture, had an old maid aunt and an uncle older than the old maid neither had kids and left a big pile of stuff , big one , to their nieces and nephews, weren’t that many , that on top of what my close friend and neighbor accumulated , 3 or 4k acres of top notch land and the very best in equipment, was a lot for my little part of the world. He had One son who never applied himself to anything, never spent much time on farm or at any of his dads other businesses , no college , a daughter who’s actually probably spent more time at the farm and worked at a business her dad was deeply involved in , great gal , been married through a couple guys but single now . My friend started years ago shoveling by far far and away the biggest part of the pile to the one son whom probably never realized it till the day my friend never woke up , still in good health just went to bed and never woke back up was in his eighties . Well now that son has discovered all the wealth he was left with no controls over it in much of any limiting form , Lamborghini Porsche and McLaren dealers somewhere are happy , not one after the other but three at same time, a very wise woman has taken up in there and she drives the g wagon . Bought big home , didn’t like , sold bought another big one , didn’t like it and wanted other one back , bought it back ,now have both just a few miles apart and doing big remodel to original buy . I’m gonna leave out what I think about what’s going on there but certainly have my opinion as do a lot of other folks in the area that worked and did business with the dad for many many years, the daughter who works at one of the businesses would have been a good choice for everything to flow through but way the heck to late for that now . If my old friend knew all this was about to take place I really wonder if he would of done it the same way , just some food for thought for benefactoral judgements!
