East Central SD | I agree with with you about staying positive in front of the next generation. I think involving them in the business side is extremely important as well. My 17 year old son knows exactly what everything costs, notes due, contracted prices, and attends tax meetings with me. I value his input, and he knows it. He has taken over writing prescriptions this spring, with guidance of course. He has skin in the game, renting his own land and making the decisions.
Now, I realize how fortunate I am, because he is interested in this life, and knows what information is confidential. I have been intentional about all of this, because with my past health issues, we don't know how soon he'll be running the show.
Obviously, this won't work with every child, but it breaks my heart when I see kids with the drive to learn and succeed shut down by Dad or Grandpa because "they're just a kid."
