Im.aware of those yields. But other things factor in the equation.
1. Wheat is normally a $2 spread over corn so you dont need as many bushels
2. You can plant wheat for less than half of corn.
Fert costs are higher with corn. Seed is $80 vs $15
3. Some guys NEED wheat for the rotation.
4. You can harvest more acres of wheat per day than corn.
5. Wheat doesnt require as much storage.
6. Lastly, many 10-30000 acre farms in western ND and Montana. Not many guys can handle that many acres of corn. And corn on corn.yields dont compare with rotation yields.
That being said, we'll have the least wheat ever and the most corn ever.
1. Hasn't been for a while with basis
2. You can plant alfalfa for even less yet you don't see that much anymore.
3. So the RRV thought and they found a way around it
4. What is the point of harvesting 5,000 acres of wheat if you're going to lose money on it?
5. What is even the point of that point? Bag it if need be. Are you trying to brag about poor yields or something?
6. When is the last time you went to SW ND? All it is anymore is corn with a few Sunflowers, and they aren't small farmers there.
