Disease is really only a third of the problem. Trying to find the right balance of yield and protein level is another. But falling numbers is getting to be a bigger problem it seems. Needs to be more empahsis on making that less of a problem going forward as we deal with wetter harvest periods in August.
From what I've seen the solution to falling numbers is to grow an old variety from 20 years ago like Glenn or Steele. They start out so it is impossible to have "bad" numbers compared to alot of other varieties. Good luck finding those old varieties though. |
