Spring wheat growers really need to do your homework on varieties. Growers who only look at
the yield column in the test plot results need to be wary of disease reactions. For example, of the
privates, AP Gunsmoke, AC Murdock, CAG Recoil, LCS Cannon, TCG Wildcat. WB 9497 and WB9590
rated 7, very susceptible, to scab and leaf diseases. Some most resistant were MN Rothsay,
MN Torgy, ND Stampede, TW Olympic, Ascend SD, and LCS Buster. Varieties can differ.


Here you get protein or yield, not both, and if you have one you have disease. The middle of the road varieties aren't profitable at $5 though. $6 makes sense and $7 is encouraging, however $5 corn beats it
